Here are some things I can help you with:
Blogging is a useful way to connect with others through meaningful posts about subjects people interested in you care about. Blogs are not generally about your latest trip to the store; that might be boring, unless you encountered something completely out of the ordinary there one day. Blog posts work better when they deliver on subjects your readers value, so know your audience and keep surprising them with new things.
It's a lot more than you might think. I can't just blather along, although, speaking informally can help people engage more with your message, the way you listen when a good friend or a dynamic speaker is on a roll. Great copy takes a lot of work, and though you can't see it, the writer researched a few hours, anguished over finding power words and extraordinary language, tested it, deleted a lot of it, and wrote it all over a number of times before it ever gets published. That's my job.
Proofreading and Editing
Your words are headed for an early grave if they sound awkward, use poor grammar, or have typos sticking out all over the place. An auto-grammar checker can only do so much. You need an extra set of human eyes to get this done right.
Ever sent an email and looked at it afterward to find: "...relaxed at the the spa in Calistoga, a town in..."
That's okay when you're firing off messages to friends, but not so nice when you write for your blog or for some other situation where clarity, purpose, accuracy, and professionalism are paramount. Let's get it right before it gets out there.
A lot of people out there have wonderful stories to tell but very little experience packaging them to encourage loyal readers. Give me the ideas and I will spin your tale into gold. The credit remains all yours. No one ever knows I wrote it.
